New & Teen Drivers
In order to apply for a driver license in Pennsylvania, you must be at least 16 years of age, hold an Initial Learner’s Permit, take a vision screening, complete a knowledge exam, and pass a road test. If you are under 18 years of age, you are also required to complete 65 hours of adult-supervised skill-building. You may only be issued an Initial Learner’s Permit if you are at least 15 and a half years of age, have completed the vision screening, and passed the knowledge exam.Resources for new & teen drivers

New-to-State Drivers
New Pennsylvania residents with out-of-state driver’s licenses must apply for a Pennsylvania driver’s license within 60 days of establishing residency in the state. If your out-of-state license has been expired for more than six months, you are required to apply for an Initial Learner’s Permit and then pass the road test before you can issued a Pennsylvania driver’s license.Resources for new-to-state drivers

In order to apply for a motorcycle license in Pennsylvania, you must be at least 16 years of age, pass a vision screening, and take a motorcycle knowledge test. Once you pass the screening and knowledge test, you will be issued a learner’s permit. After you receive the learner’s permit, may either schedule a skills test with a Driver License Center or take a training course through the Motorcycle Safety Program, which includes a skills test that, if completed successfully, exempts you from the Driver’s License Center’s skills test. If you are under 18, you must hold a permit for at least 6 months, accumulate 65 hours of supervised riding time, and successfully complete a Pennsylvania Motorcycle Safety Program Basic Rider Course before you can take the skills test.Resources for motorcyclists

CDL
You must have a valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) or Commercial Learner’s Permit (CLP) to drive a commercial motor vehicle in Pennsylvania. You must be at least 18 years of age, hold a non-commercial driver’s license, and pass a knowledge test in order to be issued a CLP. In order to obtain a CDL, you must obtain a CLP and then pass a skills test.Resources for CDL
